Suzhou High School Affiliated to Xi’An Jiaotong University (SHS) is a top public day and boarding high school located in Suzhou Industrial Park, Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. Established in 2004, the school is already recognized for its internationally focused education, and received the Four Star title from the Ministry of Education in 2011 – the highest designation awarded to a public school.
The school is unique for having a US Program Center that is devoted to helping Chinese students prepare for post-secondary education in the United States. The Center was established jointly with U-Learn and currently organizes several exchange programs, in addition to providing counseling services for the US college application process.
The school hosts two exchange programs with Verde Valley School in Sedona, Arizona and Brandon Hall School in Atlanta, Georgia. In these programs, students combine studies at SHS and in the US. They then receive a high school diploma from both schools upon completion of their studies.
The Dual Diploma Program: This program allows students to study both at SHS and a US high school. Upon completion of this program, students will receive a high school diploma from both schools.
The College Foundation Program: This is a collaborative college preparatory program with a community college that helps Chinese senior high school students in their US college admission process. It provides ESL classes and college level courses using curricula developed jointly with the Center and the college to enhance students’ qualifications to apply to US colleges and universities.
The US Program Center is currently working on several initiatives to expand its offerings of exchange programs and counseling services.
Suzhou High School has a total enrollment of 1,177 students. Nearly all students studying in the US Program Center pursue post-secondary education in the US.
