About the Role:
Serve as a knowledgeable expert and counselor for a given number of Chinese high school students who are interested in studying in the United States for undergraduate college & university studies
Represent U-Learn through both in- and out-of-office activities and programs
All training is provided on location
Principal Accountabilities:
Provide guidance to high school students on proper strategies for the college application process
Advise students on their college essay topics
Guide students through the college essay writing process and provide insight on editing where necessary
Contribute to student group workshops
Contribute to weekly in-company meetings regarding strategies, student portfolios, and planning
Assist in planning US college admissions officers’ visits to U-Learn school campuses, and accompany admissions officers when necessary
Requires (Functional/Technical Skills & Knowledge):
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Willingness to communicate with students and staff both during normal working and non-working hours (College application seasons)
Teaching, mentoring, and/or tutoring skills
Firm understanding of the US college application process
Satisfactory command of English language and grammar, both oral and written
Prior experience with the SAT/ACT system and tests
Commit to 2 application seasons
Required / Recommended Background & Experience:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in English, Literature or Creative Writing
1-2 years of college essays consulting and editing experience
Valid TESOL/TEFL/CELTA certificate OR 2 years of post-graduate working experience
Previous experience with ESL and/or high school students (preferred)
Recent graduates from Top US colleges are strongly encouraged to apply
